To illustrate the automatic pen machine, we need to first understand the types of pens. There are many types of pens. Like ballpoint pens, DF pens, gel pens, Novelty Pens… Normally all of those pens’ plastic parts, are made by a pen injection molding machine.

There are lots different between the pen. Like the biggest difference between a DF pen and an ordinary pen is that a DF pen is to pour ink directly into the barrel, which is equivalent to the entire barrel becoming a refill. The ordinary pen has a separate refill, the ink is poured into the refill, and then the refill is put into the barrel, which is a complete pen. DF pens have no way to replace the refill, and can only be discarded directly after use. Some accessories of DF pen can also be produced with injection molding machines, but customers need to solve the part of filling ink by themselves.

Step 1: Raw material preparation for all of the pen components.

As you know different parts of the pen with different materials. Like the pen barrel we will use PP, pen pipe will use other materials…

Pen body: usually made of plastic or metal. Like the cap, barrel, and ink tube are made of plastic
Pen tip: consists of a ball and an ink channel. The ball rolls during writing, transferring ink from the pen tip to the paper.
Pen refill: Contains ink, usually made of plastic or fiberglass.
Ink: The ink used in ballpoint pens is usually oil-based or water-based, depending on the type of pen.

Step 2: Ballpoint pens part manufacturing process by injection molding.

Normally the ballpoint pens differnt parts will need differnt machines. Normally, the whole production line for automatic pen machines, includes 3 main machines as belows:

Injection molding the pen plastic parts- by injection molding machine;
Ink pipe production- ink filling machine;
Assembling the pen parts- Full automatically assembly machine;

The injection molding machine is the first machine in the whole automatic pen machines. It will injection molding machine pen barrle,cap,tube, grip…

Step 3: Pen refill production.

After the extortion machine produces the ink pipe, we can start to fill the ink into pipe, by filling machine.

Adding ink: Add ink to the plastic tube after extruction. This step requires precise control of the length of the ink to ensure sufficient ink filling and no bubbles.
Sealing end: Seal the other end of the plastic pipe to ensure that ink does not leak.
Installing steel balls: Install steel balls at one end of the plastic tube, which are the part of the ballpoint pen that comes into contact with paper when writing.

Step 4: Assembling the pens process

At last, the ballpoint pen automatic assembly line is a production line that uses mechanical devices to automatically complete the assembly of ballpoint pens. This type of production line typically includes multiple workstations, each responsible for different assembly tasks such as automatic pen holder placement, automatic pen core loading, automatic pen nozzle loading, automatic pen nozzle rotation, automatic tail plug loading, and automatic pen cap loading. Each stage is equipped with testing institutions to ensure precise and stable production.

Step 5: Testing and Quality Inspection.

Finally, the quality inspection of ballpoint pens after assembly is a complex and multi-step process involving multiple aspects of testing and inspection. The key is the inspection of appearance and usage. A standardized testing mechanism ensures the quality of ballpoint pens manufacture.
